2017 Gift Guide No. 4 – The Social Justice Warrior

I wanted to make sure I made a big roundup of ways you can shop consciously – beautiful products that help people. Few things seem as glaring right now as how much inequality there is. In America, in the world. Let’s help people out this year.

Apart from gifts, here’s a few of my favorite causes you might consider making an honorary donation to: Planned Parenthood, She Should Run, Helping Women Period, Sierra Club, Black Lives Matter, ACLU

1 — Intersectional Feminist  2 — Constellation Bowl  3 — Phoenix Poncho
4 — She Persisted Sweatshirt  5 — Hand in Hand Soap  6 — Conscious Socks

This Land is Our Land

It’s hard to know where to begin with how terrifying the Trump presidency has been so far. It’s hard not to feel powerless against all that he’s done – and all he’s promised to do, from building that damn wall  to eliminate funding for PBS. What’s insane is that we knew he was horrible. If he was actually trying to hide the fact that he’s a vulgar, incoherent sexual predator, with no character, no conviction and no actual ideas on how to help America, he sure as hell failed at that. He’s also a deeply insecure and pitiful man. He will only serve to destruct, and we’ll be paying the price for years.

One of my passion issues during the election cycle (and always, because it’s not a partisan issue) is the environment, and the protection of public lands. Environmental science is under threat with Trump. The gag order given to the National Park Service is extra cause for concern.

So today I want to encourage people to follow this Resistance (!) twitter account by a collection of National Park Rangers, and maybe consider donating to the NPS. Other environmental organizations that will need all the help fighting the good fight is the Sierra Club, the Natural Resources Defense Council and Greenpeace (by the way, check out their badass act of civil disobedience today) If nothing is done about climate change (and believe me, nothing is being done), our most beautiful natural assets will be totally wiped out.
